For classes and workshops here is a list of the materials you will need to have.
Essential
- Soft Pastels – artist quality sets or individual sticks (recommended brands: Art Spectrum, Rembrandt, Unison, Blue Earth, Sennelier available at good art stores). Art Spectrum set of 40 half-sticks is highly recommended for beginners, this set will give you all the colours you’ll need to get started.
- Pastel paper 23 x 30cm Art Spectrum Colourfix Paper (medium tooth)
- Drawing paper or an art diary
- Pastel or charcoal pencil in white
- Willow Charcoal sticks
- Easel (table or standing) if you prefer
- Drawing board about A3 size (to tape or clip your paper on)
- Kneadable eraser
- Old hand-towel (wet on one end)
- Masking tape
- A ruler
Other handy things to have
- Apron
- Baking paper or glassine (to protect your finished art)
- Bulldog clips x 3
- Wet ones or similar (to wipe your hands)
- Rubber tipped blenders
- Pastel pencils
For online Classes please add…
- Computer or laptop to view the class video or Zoom meeting
- Colour printer or a screen to view the reference photo on
- Earbuds to hear instructions during class
- Table or desk space where you can view your screen, reference photo and lay out your pastels and paper and have everything within reach
