Workshops

Building Light & Depth in Pastel Landscapes

Spend a relaxed and inspiring day exploring the beauty of soft pastels. This weekend workshop is perfect for semi-beginner to intermediate adult artists—especially if you’re curious about soft pastels or would love to feel more confident drawing landscapes.

We’ll work together step by step to create a serene, inviting landscape featuring a gentle sunrise sky and rolling green hills. Along the way, you’ll learn how to layer pastels, create an underpainting, and gradually build depth and atmosphere. By the end of the day, you’ll head home with a finished artwork and a deeper understanding of this beautiful medium.

Come immerse yourself in the rich, tactile joy of soft pastels and enjoy a day of creativity, colour, and connection.

Date: Saturday 28th March 2026
Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Cost:
• $120 BYO materials

What a wonderful week we had! Feathers and fur, still life, landscapes, clouds, apples, pears and boots!

Here are some comments about previous workshops and classes…

“I just wanted to say thank you for a lovely weekend.  It was great and well worth the drive up to Toowoomba from Brisbane. You have such a lovely teaching style, always are calm and encouraging and just a sweet person.  It’s so nice to be with others too, who share the pastels bug.” Debbie 2023

Kath said “Thank you so much for another great day yesterday!  I have to confess to getting as much enjoyment being in the company of you & those amazing women as I do in the art ….. pretty cool!” 2022
Hi Jeanne, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the day on Saturday , and to say thank you for your energy, patience and care with each one of us regardless of where we were at with our skill level.  I loved how each persons art came out differently.” Karen, 2022

Lyn said “A HUGE shout out to Jeanne Cotter – I’ve just had the pleasure over the last six weeks of taking Jeanne’s beginner pastel course. This last week we had to do online thanks to the lockdown. I can’t tell you how professional she is and brilliant in imparting her wealth of knowledge. If you get a chance to do one of her courses – do it!” 2021
